Abstract

The aim of this study is to elucidate the stages and techniques of treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) related to purity and impurity based on Islamic sources. To this end, the research was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method. After completing the stages of source identification, categorization, and review of resources, as well as extracting and analyzing the collected data from these sources, the techniques and stages of treating the disorder were inferred. The findings revealed that, according to Islamic sources, this disorder can be addressed through eighteen therapeutic techniques, including enhancing insight into willpower, strengthening resourcefulness and intellect, lifestyle modification, boosting self-esteem, seeking refuge in God and remembrance, wearing a Yemeni agate ring, maintaining cleanliness, increasing insight, reducing anxiety related to encountering impurity, alleviating concerns about purity and impurity,  self-compelling, mind monitoring, learning rational sciences, strengthening  the way of thinking, contemplation, avoiding the company of doubters, associating with those of certainty, and reliance on God. From these techniques, seven treatment stages can be extracted, which, when followed, can aid in treating patients with OCD related to purity and impurity. These stages include: strengthening willpower, reducing intrusive thoughts, enhancing insight, alleviating anxiety, correcting biases of the rational faculty, modifying obsessive behaviors, and employing communication techniques.
