Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of Islamic spiritual dignity therapy on academic self-efficacy and maladaptive irrational beliefs among students preparing themselves for university entrance exams. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The study population consisted of all female adolescent students preparing for university entrance exams in Mahoolat County, from which 30 students were selected through voluntary sampling and randomly assigned to two groups: an experimental group (15 participants) and a control group (15 participants). The experimental group received the Islamic spiritual dignity therapy program over six sessions, while the control group received no intervention. Data were collected using the Academic Self-Efficacy Questionnaire and the Ahvaz Irrational Beliefs Questionnaire. Multivariate analysis of covariance was used to analyze the data. The results indicated that Islamic spiritual dignity therapy was effective in reducing irrational beliefs and increasing academic self-efficacy among the students. Islamic spiritual dignity therapy can be an effective method for enhancing academic self-efficacy and reducing irrational beliefs in students preparing for university entrance exams, and it can also be utilized as an evidence-based intervention in adolescent therapy.
