Abstract

Abstract
The present study aimed to design and validate a culturally grounded conceptual model of psychological flexibility based on authentic Islamic sources (Qur’an and Hadith). This research employed a qualitative–analytical approach, utilizing content analysis of religious texts through the Shannon method and open, axial, and selective coding procedures. More than forty authoritative Islamic references formed the basis of the analysis. Findings indicated that flexibility within the Islamic framework is organized into five interrelated categories: mental preparedness for confronting environmental stimuli; appropriate engagement with automatic thoughts and difficult emotions; choosing the optimal response; implementing the selected reaction; and adopting post-action attitudes and behaviors. The proposed model integrates cognitive–emotional–behavioral structures and emphasizes metacognitive and value-based processes in selecting and executing adaptive responses. Content validity of the model was assessed by 11 experts in Islamic studies and psychology using CVR, CVI, and the Lawshe table; all components exceeded threshold criteria. The results suggest that this model provides a robust foundation for developing indigenous measurement tools as well as designing culturally and clinically informed interventions, and it paves the way for future quantitative research grounded in Islamic teachings.
