Explaining the psychological functions of sincerity based on Islamic sources

Abstract

The present study aims to explain the psychological functions of sincerity based on Islamic sources (Quran and Hadith). The method used in this study was a qualitative analysis of the content of religious texts. To achieve this goal, propositions related to sincerity were first extracted from Islamic sources and the family of texts was formed. Then the collected texts were analyzed and classified. After classifying the functional texts and extracting the main functions of sincerity, the content of each according to the functional aspects of sincerity was examined and finally, using religious and psychological texts, the psychological functions of sincerity were explained. The results of the analysis of the psychological functions of sincerity showed that intrinsic motivation, positive motivation, spiritual motivation, friendship, social popularity, psychological security, hope, self-esteem, hardiness, avoidance of procrastination, satisfaction, self-control, and certainty are the most important Psychological functions are sincerity. These functions were then classified into three areas: motivational, social and daily health. The final results of the research showed that by using Islamic sources, the psychological functions of sincerity can be identified and explained.
