Abstract
The present research aims at presenting an outlook of the Islamic psychology based on the Quranic foundations compared with the major psychological approaches. To do so, we referred to Islamic sources, especially the Quran. The foundations of Islamic psychology were extracted in the spheres of ontology, anthropology, epistemology, theology, values, and methodology. Then, those foundations were compared to the existing psychological foundations and were analyzed through a descriptive-analytical method. The findings showed that the Islamic psychology is fundamentally different from the existing psychology in six basic aspects: (a) subject, (b) factors and processes of psychological change, (c) scope, (d) goal, (e) issues, and (f) the investigation method.
