Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the mediating role of purpose in life in relation to religious orientation and actual well-being. 399 students responded to the Activity Happiness Scale, the Life Satisfaction Scale, the Revised Religious Orientation Scale, and the Modified Life Purpose Test. This research is a correlational study and methods such as correlation coefficient, regression and Sobel test were used to analyze the findings. Findings showed that the relationship between religiosity indicators and happiness and life satisfaction was positive and significant. These relationships were stronger in terms of life satisfaction and purpose in life. The relationship between purpose in life and religious variables and actual well-being was positive and the mediating role of purpose in life in relation to religious orientation with welfare indicators was confirmed. The present study helps to understand the relationship between religiosity and well-being and mental health and provides solutions for future research.
