Background and Aim: Children from single-parent families are facing many problems, among which is disruption in their children's academic performance. This research was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of spiritual therapy counseling program on academic excitement and academic self-concept of students from single-parent families. Methods: The research was a semi-experimental one of pre-test, post-test with a control group. The statistical population was the students of the second intermediate section of Borujerd city in the academic year of 1400-1401, who were selected by available sampling method. The purpose to be obtainded, 30 students were selected and placed randomly in two experimental and control groups. Then 8 training sessions of spiritual intervention were implemented for the experimental group and the control group did not receive any intervention. For the pre-test and post-test, all the subjects completed the tools used, the academic self-concept of Baysanchi (2004), the academic excitement of Pakran et al. (2005). Results: Then the data was analyzed using covariance analysis test. The findings indicated that spiritual therapy has made a significant difference on the components of academic excitement and academic self-concept of the experimental group.Conclusion: The results of data analysis showed that the counseling program based on spiritual therapy was effective in reducing academic excitement and increasing students' academic self-concept.
