There are several approaches to treating depression, among which much research evidence supports the effectiveness of the cognitive approach. Depression disrupts a person's functioning by distorting and destroying their cognition. The issue of correct knowledge of facts and correction of negative thoughts is emphasized by Islamic sources. In Islamic texts, in order to improve the individual, social and divine performance of individuals, it is recommended to correct the knowledge of facts, thinking, reasoning and checking thoughts. The aim of this study was to achieve cognitive solutions for the treatment of depression based on Islamic sources. For this purpose, verses and narrations related to cognitive therapy were collected and analyzed. Findings showed that some cognitive strategies for treating depression from the perspective of Islamic sources include examining one's beliefs and thoughts. Separating right from wrong thoughts, being aware of the relationship between wrong thoughts and depression, and avoiding wrong thoughts. It is suggested that based on the strategies presented in this study, the depression treatment protocol be designed and its effectiveness be compared with traditional cognitive therapy.
