This study aims to investigate the mediating role of self-control in relationship between attachment to God and family functioning. To achieve the above objective, in a descriptive study, 461 married individuals living in the residential complexes in Pardisan, Qom, were selected by using a combination of simple random and convenience sampling method. The data were collected through questionnaires attachment to God, short form of self-control scale, and Family Assessment Device (FAD); and data through Pearson correlation and the Method of the Path Analysis (in Amos Software) were analyzed. According to the research hypothesis, results confirmed the mediating role (partial mediation) of self-control in the relationship between quality of attachment to God and family functioning. The results also showed that the secure attachment to God and self-control has significant negative relationship with family dysfunction (repectively.45 and .46), and the secure attachment to God and self-control have a significant positive relationship (.34). The results of this study can be used for designing educational packages to improve the family functioning through the quality of attachment to God and self-governing.
