The present study compares the personality traits and life satisfaction of students from families with one or two children and families with more than two children. The sample included 295 high school students at first to third grades in city of Baharestan in Tehran province, who were selected through random cluster sampling. The research method is descriptive, correlation type and the instruments used were Eysenck Personality questionnaire and satisfaction of life questionnaire. Data were analyzed based on Mann-Whitney U test.
The findings indicate that an average score of neuroticism and schizophrenia in students from families with one and two children is significantly higher than those from families with more than two children. Also, there is no significant difference in the average score of extroversion and life satisfaction in these two groups; therefore, the more the number of members in the family, the more the possibility of personality health and life satisfaction of children.
